January 11/2007

Hope the holiday season treated you well; and that you and yours are healthy, happy, and ready for an exciting 2007!

As you may have noticed - we've recently had a nice new facelift here at www.keymusicgroup.com. And like every overhauled website out there, we have lofty goals of keeping this up to date. No promises, of course, but I have been told that our web designers have made this site incredibly easy to update, so I can't use that as an excuse (though I will make the disclaimer now that I haven't yet figured out how to update the tour dates page).

Here's a brief look at what 2007 has in store from Key Music Group:

New Year - New Office!

It's true - we're in the process of moving in to a new office space in the heart of downtown Hamilton. The space still needs some love to turn it in to the fine home we know it will be, but we're getting there.

New Year - New Record Label!

Subciety Records.

It's been in the works (read: we've talked about it a lot) for the last year or two, but we can proudly say that we've made some great friends that are looking to release albums, and we're honoured to help them out.

If you haven't heard the name "Four Day Hombre" yet, just wait. The first release scheduled on Subciety Records just so happens to be your early favourite for best album of 2007 - Four Day Hombre's "Experiments In Living." Seriously, the album is great, and - if the rumours are true - the live show is even better. Already well loved (and well traveled) in their native England, the lads from FDH are planning to win us all over in March of this year. Keep an eye on this site for more info, as well as visiting www.fourdayhombre.co.uk to get appropriately excited about this.

Canadian Music Week - March 9, 2007.

Mark it on your calendars! Key Music Group/ Subciety Records will be taking over the Mod Club for a night of Rock 'n' Roll excitement. Details are still being confirmed, but rest assured - it will be a great night of music.

Touring, Touring. Writing, Writing.

It looks like it'll be a bit of a mixed bag for our artists this year... the Marble Index are thankful that the Canadian winter was kind enough to let them have an awesome western Canada tour in December, and won't push their luck until mid-March when they will emerge for some more touring. We keep saying we're going to send them out east... hopefully we can make it happen.

After a year of touring (“heavy like crazy”) - the Meligrove Band are currently flying a bit below the radar to focus on writing. But don't be afraid, a live show that's as much fun as they are can't stay contained too long...

Take care. Hopefully I’ll be back rambling again sooner than later.

July 2006

The Marble Index
Let the celebrations begin!
On Tuesday, August 1st, the Marble Index proudly released their second album “Watch Your Candles Watch Your Knives” in Canada. Keep your ears open for the latest single “All That I Know” which hit the airwaves this week (and don’t blame us if you develop a sudden urge for back-to-school shopping)

The band flies to Germany next week, where they have recently released their self-titled debut album via High Coin/Soulfood music. One German reviewer had this to say: “Three Canadians, that seems to have an excellent record collection, arouse the local music scene and wanna conquer Europe...” And to that, we say “just wait until you see them live - after the show you can tell us about how they didn’t have to conquer; you couldn’t have been happier to give in.” Two weeks of touring in Germany will be followed by two weeks of touring in the UK. Then the band will return home to tour their new album across the country.

In case you missed out, the Marble Index stopped by MTV in July for a quick performance – you can watch the footage
by clicking here.

Meligrove Band
The latest addition to the Key Music Group family carries on the tradition of “must see” acts on the Key Roster. The Meligrove Band continues to win over audiences everywhere they go; whether it’s Azores Portugal, London England, or any number of Canadian festivals, the Meligrove Band is making folks take notice. Their delicious blend of catchy songs and charismatic stage presence (known to include trumpets, whistling and witty banter) is leaving audiences eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to see the band live.

The band is taking a few weeks off to regroup from the summer’s travels (perhaps there is a limit to how many plane rides and time changes one should cram in to the span of a month), but you can expect to be seeing them again live once fall rolls around.

Check out the Meligrove Band on MTV if you missed it the first time around: http://www.mtv.ca/?id=1534831

Miniatures
After showcasing their latest album “Dead Flowers” across the country, the Miniatures are taking a bit of a breather for August (after next weekend’s Wakestock performance, Sat. Aug 12 anyways) to work on a video for their next single “Actors and Soldiers.” Prepare yourself to have this anthem buzzing through your head in the weeks to come.

British fans of the band can start whetting their appetites for the band as well. With a tentative release date set for early fall, we’re in the process of putting the pieces in place for a full-on tour across the UK in October/November.

Be sure to stop by the band’s myspace page when you get a chance – who knows what video mastery drummer Nick Skalkos will be up to next.

The Miniatures on myspace… www.myspace.com/theminiatures

Cities In Dust
Cities In Dust continue with their “shock and awe” approach to live performance, leaving venue security wishing they’d stop and music fans cheering for more.

While the band continues to hone its skills for audiences across Ontario (London, Hamilton, Toronto and Ottawa will all get a healthy dose of the band this month), fans across the country can rest-assured that the band is itching to play your town, and we’ll do our best to make it happen sooner than later.

Described by the BBC as: "angry as a tattooed tiger and powerful as a howling wind, Cities In Dust bring a new meaning to audience participation... " It’s up to you whether you wait in fear or anticipation for your chance to see the band live.

The band recently stopped by the Edge store-front studio at 228 Yonge - Click here for Video
