Dan Brooks biography

Dan Brooks

Dan Brooks got his start in the music industry working with one of the UK's largest radio plugging companies. After a two-year tenure as director of the firm, Dan joined forces with Richard Jones who has both managed and tour managed acts as diverse as the Spice Girls and the Pixies. Together, they formed Key Music Group.

In late 2003, Dan relocated to Hamilton, Ontario and set up the North American division of the company. On setting up offices in Canada, Dan promptly signed Hamilton's own Marble Index. Dan's assistance and support led to the band getting signed with Universal Music, and their debut album was well supported at the 2004 and 2005 Hamilton Music awards before ultimately being nominated for a JUNO.   The current Key Music Group roster includes the Marble Index [Hamilton], Cities In Dust [Hamilton], Drew Smith [Hamilton], the Meligrove Band [Toronto], the Miniatures [Kitchener] and Lowest of the Low [Toronto].

2006 has been another great year for Dan Brooks and Key Music Group. The Marble Index, Cities in Dust, and the Miniatures have all released albums this year and are touring both nationally and internationally.
The Marble Index have toured England twice in 2006, as well as Germany and Canada once each; In addition, they have seen their albums released in Japan, England, Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The Miniatures have ventured across Canada, twice, and are just returning from a month-long tour of England, where their album will be released early in 2007.  The tour will finish with two Canadian performances.

In addition to working with local acts, Dan has built strong ties with acts around the world including internationally renowned first-wave punks, the Saints, as well as UK new-comers Four Day Hombre - yet to make their mark in North America, but that will all change once their debut album is released domestically.
